Meet Ana, an Analyst in our Miami office
She works as part of our global insights team identifying the most useful and compelling insights from our work and sharing them with colleagues across Finalta and McKinsey
How would you describe a typical day at Finalta?
A roller coaster of events! It includes constant conversations with teams to discuss study definitions or specific banks’ situations, client calls to verify data, or agree on how their story is shaping up and present some results. Plus, there’s always something new going on: new project ideas, innovating processes, working on new global and local initiatives, sharing knowledge with the teams –there’s never a dull moment! Everyone is very goal oriented and hands-on, and someone will always have something interesting to share or work on besides the business-as-usual things.
As an Analyst what are your main responsibilities?
Taking ownership of every piece of work done is one of my main responsibilities. No matter how small it can be, ensuring the best quality, understanding the process behind it, and feeling comfortable about what you are delivering is so important. Also making sure to always communicate with teammates that are involved in the same projects or that may have another perspective helps each Analyst create the best result possible.
What are the main challenges you face in your role?
Multitasking effectively. During the same day I can be working on many projects for different regions and that requires me to stay on my feet to quickly switch to different project scopes, perspectives and languages. Also ensuring that everything meets its deadline is challenging, since sometimes many deadlines for deliverables are close to each other.
How have you grown at Finalta?
As a new joiner, I did not know what to expect. Taking part in interesting projects allowed me to learn on-the-go, and become comfortable with the benchmarking world. By joining the global insights team, I expanded my horizons into how enriched with data and insights each region and team is, and sharing that knowledge globally with other colleagues only made me more eager to learn more beyond theday-to-day work. Managing to work on local projects and global teams motivates me every day to keep on sharing knowledge and to create awareness, internally and externally, of the additional value Finalta brings.
What would you say to people joining Finalta?
It’s hard to know what you want to do inside Finalta since there is flexibility to work in so many different projects and areas. So, if you don’t really have a clear picture of what you want to do in theshort/long term, try to use your time and experiences wisely so that you can start figuring out things that passionate you the most (or the least), so that you can shape up your career towards your goals.
Thinking back over your time here, what is your favorite memory?
The global meeting. Finalta is a global company and it emphasizes this strongly by creating opportunities for the teams to be integrated, and on occasions like the global meeting it strengthens the opportunity to improve on collaborating with one another. We got to know who we interact with daily and share the company values and vision before taking that back to our local offices.
How would you describe the culture here?
Finalta is not like the typical corporate environment. Across offices you can tell people are extremely committed and accountable to their work, but everyone is very personable and care about each other’s wellbeing and professional development in a special way. Not only do they want you to grow, they want to hear from you what your goals are and ensure you are achieving that through your path in Finalta –while being happy in the workplace environment. Our culture of a smaller corporation allows for more autonomy in our day to day work –you will not find barriers or hierarchies, they emphasize open dialogue and constant feedback to keep improving the company’s vision, mission and environment.
What three words describe Finalta?
Challenging, growing, fun
